Sparrow stood there shocked. she couldn’t understand how this could be happening. she fought bad guys before, but here in front of her, Donny, her best friend, was fighting for his life. All because she couldn’t get to him fast enough. leaving the hospital room, she had to keep herself from shaking, it took every ounce of power she had to not collapse crying. leaving the hospital she walked in the snow, collapsing half a mile down the road. she was helpless in making the tear stop. she didn’t hear the sound of a car stopping, or the door opening, all she did know was that Carter was there. holding her. calming her.

“Why aren’t you worshiping me, mortal?” Shallow asked
“Not interested, thanks.” Ruth said shrugging her shoulders; Atepchee’s staff hung in her right hand. “How are you not interested, I promised you so many riches for making me your queen, your friends have agreed, why wont you?” Shallow was confused at what was going on “I don’t think that a woman who released illness to man kind just to marry a man should be queen.” Ruth responded, “Think about it. Was Mama really happy about the marriage?” “Of course he was, Mama and I lived happily together. Until that mortal trapped me.” Shallow cursed, Ruth could see her anger rising, her black hair started to stand on end, as if with static electricity. Ruth felt goose bump form on her arms, in a way she hadn’t felt since they were in the valley a year ago. Shallow’s eyes began to turn black and she raised her hands to the sky. “You will worship me mortal. Or you can parish in a great flood.” Ruth felt water fall on her head, first a few drops, then a constant pour. |
